About TIDE

With Virginia, Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS), and Home & Community Based Services (HCBS) regulations in mind, the Training for Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (TIDE) was designed to build the capacity of staff of all levels in Community Based Organizations (CBOs) to equitably support people with disabilities who identify with a number of intersecting cultural and social identities.

This six session course co-designed by people with disabilities, family members and provider representatives includes virtual presentations by diversity and equity experts; group dialogue; reflection; and a resource bank of assessments and materials.

TIDE topics include:

  1. Culturally responsive and inclusive practices
  2. Unpacking implicit bias
  3. Shifting perspectives to provide more equitable support
  4. Examining disparities through intersectionality
  5. Moving from allyship to co-conspiratorship
  6. Sustaining equitable supports
