Session 1: Culturally Responsive and Inclusive Practice

Session Overview:

This session provides an overview of the training for inclusion/intersectionality, diversity and equity (TIDE).  The overall goal of the trainining is to increase the quality of services and supports for Virginians with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). In this session, participants will develop a shared understanding of key terms (i.e. culturally responsive and inclusive practice) related to inclusion/intersectionality, diversity and equity.

Session Goals:

  • Reflect on our understandings of diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Define diversity, equity, and inclusion in supporting those with disabilities
  • Consider the personal experiences of those we support in our individual roles using a DEI lens

Please note that this training is NOT eligible for CEUs (Continuing Education Credits) or PDUs (Professional Development Credits).
